For the past eleven years, Zack Leventis has catered lunch for us. By contracting with Zack (owner of Zack’s catering and Jensen’s Restaurant) and requiring reservations, the Ukiah Senior Center is able to keep food costs down and maintain this valuable service to seniors. The dining room is managed solely by dedicated Senior Center volunteers. Volunteer dining room manager, George Kennedy, oversees at least twenty volunteers who handle every detail of this daily function.
Anyone in the community is welcome to attend this weekday meal. Most of our regulars are seniors who have known each other for years and look forward to the social connection. It’s a low-cost meal that includes all the favorites including meat loaf and mashed potatoes, pot roast, navy beans, ham and scalloped potatoes, and corned beef cabbage. For seniors on limited incomes or for those who don’t feel like a big meal in the evening, this service provides the main meal of the day.
