Jane McMahon Shares Her Perspective on the Caregiver Support Group
First and foremost, I have learned that I am not alone. I like the fact that there are many ideas shared to help me in my caregiving role. Such as, never try to bring the one you are caring for in to “your” realty – accept “their world.” It’s real to them! It’s important to stay calm and keep your voice low. Be willing to accept help from others. YOU need time off to keep your sanity. Forgive yourself for any setbacks. Try to analyze what caused any changes in behavior – is it really your fault? If so, try to remember to prevent any future problems. Caregiving is a real act of Love and should be done out of Love. Learn how to forgive your loved one and yourself for any problems that surface. Attend these caregiving sessions and learn to become a kinder caregiver. ~Jane McMahon
