Volunteers make it happen! There is no doubt that the varied and dedicated volunteers of the Ukiah Senior Center past and present have shaped this organization into the agency it is today.
Volunteering at the Ukiah Senior Center is a wonderful way to see what we do and be part of the great team who keep us going! Did you know that there are over 140 volunteers at the Center? Granted, most volunteer 3 to 5 hours a week, but we have a handful of what we refer to as “heroes” who volunteer up to 40 hours a week. (Amazing! And believe it or not, there are a few in that category!)
There are about as many ways to get involved as can be imagined. Here is a list of ways that are already in place.
- Thrift Store: Sorting and pricing donations, cash register, picking up donations, tending the outside sales area, yard maintenance, cleaning items and doing minor repairs.
- Dining Area: Serving food, busing tables, Coffee bar attendant, and Front Desk coverage
- Lunch Bunch: Helping with the program. Spending time with participants and assisting program coordinator with activities.
- Special Events: Call to be put on a list for help with any special event. We always can use help in the kitchen, setup and cleanup from fundraising venues.
How about teaching something new at the Center? If you have a class, dance style, game to be played, craft to teach that you would like to implement, give us a call.
