This group is the Senior Center’s outreach chorus. They meet to rehearse and fine tune their arrangements. After their rehearsal at the Center, the group travels to a couple of residential care homes or convalescent hospitals in the Ukiah area. They perform for the residents and take time afterward to socialize and bring cheer. Residents are always happy to have visits from this friendly and warm group. Once a month, the group visits the Lunch Bunch program at the Center and brings camaraderie and joy with their latest melodies

The Mendo C Notes will even take reservations for those wanting to be on the list for a performance by this volunteer singing group.

Our Quilting Group is made up of experienced and talented individuals who gather once a week to sew in a bright, welcoming space equipped with tables, chairs, and plenty of plug-ins. Members bring their current projects—often quilts or wall hangings—and work together while enjoying another’s company.

Most of the items created are generously donated to the Senior Center’s year-end sale or to worthy causes in the wider community. Over the years, this group has contributed to natural disaster relief efforts, such as Haiti and Louisiana, and continues to honor veterans by making Quilts of Valor for wounded service members.

We welcome people with similar sewing skills who would like to share their expertise and contribute to meaningful causes. Just bring your project and sewing machine and spend the day doing what you love with others who share your passion.

A small donation of $1–$3 is requested each session to help support this activity.

Facilitated by volunteer Dan Hibshman, our Writer’s Group has started up again and meets on Mondays from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.

This is a welcoming and supportive space for writers of all levels. There’s no sign-up required, no specific assignments, and no red pens or pencils—just encouragement and inspiration. Participants are invited to share by reading from their own work, whether it’s a poem, short story, memoir, or something in progress.
